Christmas in July

Season of Joy A

The theme for this month was Christmas Cards so I had fun experimenting with reverse embossing…

Stamp Set: Season of Joy

Ink: baja breeze, versamark

Card Stock: riding hood red, whisper white

Accessories: brayer, crop-a-dile, Power Pals, Embossing Buddy and Embossing Powder, Heat Gun, SNAIL

Technique: I stamped the image in versamark and covered in embossing powder. I then used the heat gun until the image became solid. I then covered the brayer in ink and rolled repeatedly over the embossed image so the card became blue and the image was the only thing white.

I used the crop-a-dile on the corners of the image and on the card.

Alexander’s Birthday

Alexander's Birthday Card

Ink: Riding Hood Red, Tangerine Tango, Summer Sun, More Mustard; Whisper White
Stamp Set: Nursery Necessities; Bitty Birthday
Card: Pacific Point; Whisper White
Accessories: Scissors; Hodgepodge Hardware; Dimensionals; SNAIL

I love this set. It was lent to me by Kelly and I had great fun creating Alexander’s Birthday Card and another one which unfortunately I gave away before scanning.

I tore the bottom edge of the front of the card and stamped a line of stars below it. I stamped the stars in different colours and the moon in Summer Sun on Whisper White. I cut out the moon and stars and layered them over the card front. I then placed the brad and voila all done.

I am very excited. I finally got to use this stamp set that we were able to purchase through the sneak peak. It is a level three hostess set and I have been waiting for a moment to use it.

I have two birthdays this week and so thought this was the perfect opportunity to use the set.
You make me smile
happy birthdayfor you

Card: Riding Hood Red; Kiwi Kiss; Whisper White
Paper: earth elements
stamp sets: WIndow Dressing, Sprinkles, Bitty Birthday
Inks: Riding Hood Red, Pink Pirouette, Chocolate Chip, More Mustard, Kiwi Kiss, Pixie Pink, Tangerine Tango
Accessories: stampin’ write markers (bold brights), SNAIL, Corner Rounder Punch, Paper Cutter, Pastels, Blender Pens

The first pic I actually made last as I had the card and paper cut so I thought oh well make a third one. Because I made it last I had the benefit of making the others and I think I like it best with just the stripe of daisy paper down the middle. I made the white card smaller too.

The fiddliest bit on all three was cutting out the round window. I stamped the little girl in pink pirouette which was a bit light so I ended up using pastels to give her colour and then some colour for the shutters and window edges.

The second I changed the vases into presents by only stamping the vase part and not the flowers and the little girl in Tangerine Tango – a nice bold bright colour. The happy birthday was from Bitty Birthday stamped in Kiwi Kiss. I decided it looked to plain so I used the flowers from sprinkles in Riding Hood Red and More Mustard to match the floral paper.

The third I stamped the cat in Chocolate Chip for my friend cat and because she likes butterflies I stamped them in kiwi kiss and riding hood red. There is no birthday stamp in the window dressing set but I just coloured in the for you from “so thankful for you” to turn it into the birthday card.

The colours never seem to scan right but I am very happy for how these cards turned out. Now I have to make a christening card for this Sunday.

Alexander’s Birthday Invitations

Red Card

Blue Card

Card: Real Red; Baja Breeze; Whisper White; Very Vanilla; Brilliant Blue
Ink: Real Red, Brilliant Blue
stamp sets: Bitty Birthday; Pleas Come
Accessories: stampin’ write markers (bold brights), SNAIL, Spiral Punch, Corner Rounder Punch, Paper Cutter

This took a bit of thinking. I originally just stamped the bitty birthday pictures onto small squares and backed it with matching card and stamped the please come directly onto the main card but that didn’t look good so then I stamped onto a rectangle of either white or vanilla and rounded every corner or used the spiral punch down the left hand side. It still looked too plain and I thought about using ribbon and then decided to cut strips of white or vanilla with a strip down the middle of either real red or brilliant blue. I then stamped the please come in either the red or blue to match the card stock and then used the SNAIL to place everything on the main card of red or baja breeze.

Now to use my stampin’ write markers to put in all the details. I also used the markers to colour in the pictures – using the two main colours of red and blue again. I tried other colours but it looked better just sticking to two colours.

Greetings Eight

I love this new set – so versatile.  I must start using some of the other new stamp sets but I was inspired.  I also wanted to see if I could make autumn flair more feminine rather than the more masculine one like the father’s day card.

Mother's Birth/day card

Mother's Birth/day card

I’ve scanned this in a bit wonkily.

Stamp Sets: In the Garden (2008 Hostess gift), Autumn Flair, Greetings Eight

Ink: Kiwi Kiss, Pink Pirouette, Versamark

Card Stock: Kiwi Kiss, Pink Pirouette

Accessories: Stampin’ Write Markers, Scallop  Round Punch, Flower Designer Brads, Crop-a-Dile

I cut out an oval shape for both my easter cards.  For one I used whisper white and stamped using stampin’ markers the easter greeting and then used SNAIL adhesive to fill the oval.

For the second one I used versamark and used a sponge dauber to pastel the bunny.  I then punched it out with the scallop round punch and used a backing designer paper.

Father’s Day or Dad’s Birthday Card

Father's Day Card

Father's Day Card

A bit early for father’s day cards I know but I am still playing with my new stamps

Stamp Sets: Autumn Flair (hostess gift), Greetings Eight (both from the new catalogue)

Card Stock: Pacific Point, Tangerine Tango (2009 in colour range), Whisper White

Ink: Tangerine Tango, Riding Hood Red, versamark

Accessories: stampin’ dimensionals, pastels, sponge daubers, SNAIL adhesive

Before I did my scrapbook page I practised on a strip and I quite liked the strip so I cut some Pacific Point card to size and attached the strip. (see below for how I made the strip with versamark, pastels and ink)

I then stamped in Pacific Point the Dad stamp from Greetings Eight and attached using stampin’ dimensionals.

New Catalogue

The new catalogue is here and I have been playing with some stamps and colours from my pre-order.

Stampin’ Up!s 2009/2010 Idea Book and Catalogue will be online from 12pm Tuesday April 1st and you can purchase a copy through me on or after that date.

Autumn Travels

Autumn Tra

Stamp Set: Autumn Flair ( a level 2 hostess gift)

Card: Tangerine Tango and Kiwi Kiss (from the new “in color” range), Chocolate Chip, Whisper White

Ink: Tangerine Tango, riding hood red (“in color”), versamark

Pastels: Chocolate chip

Accessories: Flower Designer Brads (from the new catalogue), anywhere glue, SNAIL adhesive, sponge daubers, Crop-a-dile

I cut the tangerine tango card to 6×6 scrapbook page and stamped a border down the left hand side.  I started with the versamark with the flower shapes and I daubed over two of them with the chocolate chip pastel and left the other two as watermarks.  I then stamped the lighter images with tangerine tango and then two step stamped with riding hood red over the top.

I cut the chocolate chip to create a border on the right hand side and  the kiwi kiss to create a bit of lighter colour to the look.  I then layered the cards and photo.

I then stamped the flower image again on whisper white card stock in tangerine tango and riding hood red.  I attached them through using the Crop-a-dile to punch a hole through the flowers and card stock and I used a brad from the flower set from the new catalogue.

I am not sure my scanner accurately reflects the colours – chocolate chip being much darker.  The new colours in the catalogue are gorgeous!

Anniversary Card

Star Card

Star Card

Card Stock: Whisper White

Paper: May Special (but you can use any)

Ink: Basic Black

Accessories:  stampin dimensionals, anywhere glue

Stamp Set: Fun and Fast Notes

This is the same idea as the bowl of flowers I posted earlier.  I masked out the Congratulations with tape when I inked the star (removing the tape before stamping).  I stamped the star onto different colours of the stampin’ up paper and cut out the different stars and flowers and layered it to produce a 3D look.

Christmas

Christmas Place Holders

Christmas Place Holders 2

To decorate the Christmas table *last year now* I bought some red and gold wrapping paper.

I got out my “Whisper White” stamp pad and my “So Swirly” stamping wheel and rolled out a pattern on the red wrapping paper.

I then rolled the red and gold together into a cone shape and we filled it with red and gold chocolate hearts and red and gold Christmas baubles and voila – one for each place at the table.

I sat down the other day with two ideas in my head – one was stitching and the other was embossing.  Well none of the cards have any stitching, still working on that and the one that was supposed to have stitching ended up being  a Christmas card.  I think it may be a little wishy washy and I might work a little more on it.

I wanted to put red stitching around the outside of the tree but it just didn’t look “right”, not sure if I have the technique down yet or not.  More practise needed.

Card Stock: Real Red, Black, Whisper White

Stamp Set: Stampin’ Up “Loads of Love”, “Fresh Fillers” & “Riveting” (retired)

Ink :Versamark, Basic Black

Accessories: Stampin’ Pastels, Sponge Daubers, Black Gingham Ribbon, Stampin’ Dimensionals, SNAIL

Looking at it I haven’t placed the card on straight.  I stamped the tree and the background in versamark. I then daubed over the tree and background with the pastels. (Glorious Green, Chocolate Chip & Lavendar Lace)  I think perhaps it is a bit wishy washy with the pastels but I will ponder and think over it.

Card : Real Red, Basic Black, Whisper White

Paper: May Special

Ink: Basic Black, Real Red Ink Cartridge

Stamp Sets: Watercolour Joy (Wheel), Fun and Fast Notes

Accessories: Heat Gun, Powder Pals, Embossing Buddy, Clear Embossing Powder, stampin dimensionals, sponge daubers, stampin pastels

I trimmed an inch off the card and then tore it.  On the inside I rolled watercolour joy with the real red ink cartridge and sprinkled clear embossing powder over the top and then used my heat gun.

I cased the idea for the flowers from splitcoast stampers, stamping the flowers onto scraps of my paper, cutting out and then using dimensionals to mount.  I coloured the background with my pastels using the sponge daubers (real red, glorious green).

The last card turned into a Christmas Card as well – I suppose that is what real red lends itself too.  I wasn’t as successful with the border due to the fact I don’t think I had run my wheel enough to get the ink coverage right.

Card: Real Red (yup again!), Whisper White

Ink: Real Red, Versamark

Stamp Sets: Loads of Love & Watercolour joy (wheel)

Accessories: Heat Gun, Powder Pals, Embossing Buddy, Clear Embossing Powder, sponge daubers, stampin pastels

The trailer I didn’t get quite right due to you can still see some of the cab but I tried masking in this one and did alright with that with putting trees in the back of the truck.  Brilliant Blue and Basic Black, Glorious Green and Real Red were used to put colour on the truck.

Off to work out the stitching thing now!
